Why we are all here today
The business world has witnessed tremendous changes over the past few decades. The explosion of opportunity sparked by the internet changed everything. The rapid evolution of devices and tools we use has reshaped the workforce and workplace. The future of work is happening now and traditional models of leadership, communication, and collaboration are no longer serving us well.
In this workshop, we will share what it takes to become a modern leader who generates value for the business, creates healthy and highly-functioning teams, and ensures your own long-term career success.
09:30 – 10:00
The rapidly changing world of work
Any modern company that hopes to survive and thrive must accept that every company is now a technology company. Even if you do not create software or hardware, your company depends on such technology and many of your employees are now knowledge workers. Teams are distributed and work is asynchronously collaborative. Global opportunities abound, and this presents unique challenges.
10:00 – 10:30
Classic and modern leadership
Traditional leadership styles have leaned heavily on top-down authority, power, control, fear, bureaucracy, and secrecy. Modern leaders understand that strong leaders no longer need these old-fashioned methods, and knowledge workers with global opportunities require an entirely different approach. Successful, collaborative, and compassionate leadership is quite different from what you might expect.
10:30 – 11:15
Group exercise: The Leadership Constellation
One of the reasons why Western businesses are not able to thrive in volatile and uncertain times is because of the pervasive reductionist approach that breaks down businesses to its component pieces (departments, units etc), dealing with each one of them separately. Unfortunately, with such an approach, what works for one unit might be bad for the business at large. Systems thinking will help you improve both efficiency and effectiveness. Sustained improvements are accomplished by the intentional adjustment of multiple variables across disciplines.
This exercise is both a gaining of awareness and an application of systems thinking in the moment. As an executive, it will help you shift your mental model from your departments to the larger system that is the business as a whole, including the market.
11:15 – 12:00
Healthy use of true power
Power is the missing link in most of today’s leadership trainings. Just as we’ve developed Emotional and Social Intelligence, we also need to start developing and mastering Power Intelligence.
Power Intelligence is a foundational competency backed by the latest research for using power well that provides a competitive advantage to the most savvy 21st century leaders, like Satya Nadella and the likes.
We will be answering: What is power in 2019? What are the myths and misunderstandings around power? What does effective and ineffective power use look like? What are the determinants of power abuse and misuse? How do we align sense of power with use of power? What does it take to develop the skills for effective power use?
12:00 – 13:15
13:15 – 14:00
Group exercise: The Communication Grid
Did you know that contempt is the single most lethal team misbehavior? Or that a team needs a ratio of at least 5 positive interactions to 1 negative one in order to thrive?
This exercise is designed to help teams gain an awareness and take responsibility for their communication patterns. This is an interactive experience in which the participants become a team. Before starting the exercise we will learn about team toxins, familiarize participants with the latest research on negative team toxins and the importance of creating a positive work environment.
14:00 – 14:30
Persuasion, influence, and negotiation
Effective persuasion gets people to move. It’s not just about using clever tricks to convince others of your view or intent, but also about being sensitive to others and understanding the impact of group and power dynamics.
That’s why this training is specifically designed help attendees share ideas, negotiate agreements, navigate social and political situations, and convince anyone, anytime, and anywhere.
You’ll leave the session with a powerful toolbox of skills you can use immediately to help you better move yourself, your ideas, and your business ambitions wherever, whenever you want.
14:30 – 15:00
Embrace continuous growth through Lean and Agile
Today, leading companies are embracing a new business process methodology based on Lean and Agile called ‘Continuous Development’. Companies that can successfully implement Continuous Development throughout their organization will find dramatic strategic benefits, including faster time-to-market, higher quality, and maximized productivity.
Continuous development is more than just a process methodology. It also represents an important competitive advantage and cultural weapon in the battle for talent and customer loyalty.
15:00 – 15:45
Vision, innovation, inspiration, and your brand
Leadership isn’t the same as management. In order to inspire your team to give their best, you must be able to create and share a compelling vision and mission that motivates them. However, you cannot (and should not) do this on your own.
Is your leadership brand aligned with this vision and does it reflect how you want to be perceived in your organization and the broader industry?
15:45 – 16:00
16:00 – 16:30
Define your future
Too many leaders wait until they are on the verge of retirement before they start thinking about their legacy. That is far too late. Likewise, many don’t consider what comes next until they are forced to make a decision.
You can start today by intentionally defining how you want to impact your organization, your business, and even the world. You can create a plan that will shape your legacy, determine how you will be remembered, and define the future you want beyond your current role.
16:30 – 17:00
Group exercise: The Leadership Selfie
Your personal and professional brand shouldn’t “just happen.” You want to be intentional about how you are perceived as a leader. This exercise is designed to help you define the key components of your brand and how you will reflect that to the world (i.e., your “leadership selfie”). Participants will help each other identify opportunities and activities that you can pursue that will help you truly live your new leadership brand.
17:00 – 17:30
Next steps (and how we can help you)
Knowledge informs new goals. Goals require a new plan. Plans often fail without collaboration and accountability. Did you know that your chances of success are only 10% if you have a goal in mind and still only 50% if you create a plan?
However, your success rate climbs to 95% if you make specific accountability appointments with someone to stick to your plan and achieve those goals. We’re not just here to share information with you. We’re here to help you succeed.

Zurich is one of those cities that feels like it should be a capital. It is Switzerland’s commercial heart and one of the world’s leading financial centers, home to the major Swiss banks, as well as global companies such as ABB and Zurich Financial Services.
And services – particularly of the financial kind – are the most important part of the economy, accounting for 90% of city jobs. Zurich is also a leader in green technologies. In 2008, its inhabitants voted for an annual emissions commitment of just one tonne of CO2 per person by 2050. As a result, clean-tech companies have flocked to the region.
Zurich regularly ranks highly for quality of life. It is second in the Mercer Quality of Living rankings for 2015.
